Skip to Malu Designs, formerly WhimZgal Studio, is the place to find whimsical watercolours that are filled with bright, unique, fun and colourful hand drawn images.

The process starts by drawing an image in pencil on heavy cold pressed watercolour paper, adding the watercolour and finishing off with pen and ink and sometimes an acrylic highlight or two. The bright and vibrant colours are a favourite, but sometimes the odd pastel colour works its way onto the palette as well!

From the original pieces I am able to produce archival quality prints made with Claria inks that will not smear or fade, and now offer art card sets, matted prints and the very popular magnetic bookmarks.

My background has been an extensive study of calligraphy for many years which allowed me to evolve through several creative processes including watercolours, marbling, mixed media backgrounds, paste papers, and papermaking. I have also undertaken exploration of stained glass, polymer clay, creative sewing, quilting and unique knitted scarves and afghans.

Most recently I have become certified as a Zentangle teacher. Further information on this coming soon.
